Antibiotics May Be DISRUPTING MORE than Your Gut Microbiome
It’s no longer a surprise that our trillions of microbes living within, likely are NOT the biggest fans of antibiotics. Simply because antibiotics, are crafted compounds with the sole mission to destroy bacteria.
Makes sense, and this would be no problem if all bacteria were pathogenic, or illness inducing. But as we now know, nearly 100 years after antibiotics have gone “Mainstream”, the reality is quite the opposite . Not only are most bacteria NOT pathogenic, but we have trillions living inside of us 24/7 that we NEED for optimal health.
And interestingly, as antibiotics have become more and more part of most peoples lives, with the average person taking a course once or twice a year, a common phenomena has begun to arise… The more one takes, the more frequently one seems to need them.
A phenomena which modern science has attributed to these antibiotics depleting effects on their hosts gut bacteria, and their eventual impact on the gut cells themselves. However, like we often find, the initial hypothesis doesn’t seem to be the full story. As new, hot off the scientific streets evidence suggests there may be Gut Microbiome INDEPENDENT effects at play as well…..
