The Gift of cognition is a funny one…..
We have this unique ability to think through complex problems with poise and creativity, continuing to shape the world as we know it at a rapidly evolving pace….
While also having a tendency to create and play-out 217 different scenarios about how our bosses one-word response indicates we’re getting fired on Wednesday at 2pm….
Jeez… It can get intense inside those cranial cabinets sometimes, huh?
The fact is, our 5lb mushy membrane and the thoughts that inhabit it, have the power to alter our entire biochemical and physiological state in a matter of seconds. Not only triggering a short-term stress response but also impacting long-term LONGEVITY….
Thus, it’s probably advantageous to take a little time and learn “the system”, because if we don’t, we’ll always be a prisoner of our thought…. or over-thought…..
The good news is…. it just so happens, “the system” is operating in a much happier state when we’re looking on the brighter side of things…. With recent research suggesting that by training ourselves to see the “glass half full” more often, by practicing being an optimist & a practitioner of positive thinking we can actually ADD healthy years to our life….
