Can A Dysfunctional Gut Microbiome Age YOU FASTER?
It is no secret anymore that the trillions of micro-organisims living within our intestinal tubing have quite an impact on our biological function. So much so, that without them, we would NOT be able to operate – cellularly – at our true potential.
That being said, having trillions of “Non-Self” entities living within while also having a full fledged army – the immune system – dedicated to destroying any “Non-Self” or “Approved” entities that try and enter the body, requires quite the biological balancing act.
One that the body pulls off by creating an ever-so impressive buffer of a tightly junctioned gut wall and layer of mucous to keep these microbes in place. However, things don’t always go as planned, especially when constant pressures from the sub-optimal modern lifestyle deteriorate gut wall function and cultivate nefarious communities of microbes within.
A situation which not only delivers day-to-day discomfort, but may actually be biologically aging this average modern person faster. But as we know, this barrier & ecosystem is also very dynamic, being extremely reactive to the environment it’s placed in, thus giving the powers back to the individual to right their biological ship.
