How Chronic Stress Depletes Our Microbiome & Gut Wall
One thing that’s quite clear in this modern world is the fact that we don’t stress like we used to. For example, thousands of years ago it was common for us homo sapiens be wary of physical danger at EVERY waking moment.
However, in present day most (luckily) have the security of living in a functioning society with laws (and technology) where physical safety is not a 24/7 job. Yet, we humans find a way to keep that “Fight or Flight” mode active on the reg…. In fact, possibly even MORE active.
This is because the threat landscape has dramatically changed. From one of physical danger, to one of phycological unease. Think about it (but not in a stressful way 🙃), the non-stop connectivity to the 24/7 negative news cycle, constant comparisons on social media, work politics, regular politics and increasing financial burden of living, is the modern age sabertooth tiger lurking in the brush.
And if we stay ignorant to this new threat landscape, we’ll slowly be beaten down by chronic stresses delirious biological effects. Full body cellular and metabolic effects! With one of its first noticeable stops being the ecosystem of microbes and supporting cells of the gut!
But before you panic (or stress), know there is a solution to this predicament. It’ll take a little work but the biological rewards are plenty!
