Is a Calorie Restriction Counter-Productive for Longevity?
“Eat Less & Move More”…. the age-old advice from primary care physicians everywhere.
And although most people probably would improve their present-day health by attempting to follow this incredibly vague advice. You have to wonder, is it REALLY the optimal strategy for Health over time? Aka Longevity?
Potentially, but it’s hard to argue for… As people who often restrict calories in an effort to lose weight, achieve it at the expenses of WAY MORE muscle, organ & bone mass than ideal for the vitality of their structural-self.
The structural-self that needs to be strong, stable and mobile in order for an individual to feel how they’re capable of feeling over the long run!
Thus why a chronic calorie restriction without a plan to address these other key items, is likely NOT an ideal Longevity strategy. And since we’re on the topic, modern data suggests we may NOT need a calorie restriction at ALL!
