No Need for Drugs……These English VR Dudes and Google have you Covered
Virtual-reality devices can transport users to magical realms from the comfort of their own homes, but a new device built by British engineers takes users on a different kind of trip: It lets people experience the trippy visuals brought on by psychedelic drugs in a completely drug-free way.
But this “hallucination machine” isn’t just for entertainment; it also opens new avenues into research on visual hallucinations, according to a new study.
The device combines a virtual-reality headset with Google’s Deep Dream algorithm, which uses a so-called deep neural network to analyze and enhance images. Deep Dream works by spotting patterns in images and transforming them in a way that mimics a phenomenon called pareidolia, which occurs when people see faces or objects in random clusters of visually perceived patterns. The fight on drugs rages on!! As doctors are finally being scrutinized for handing out opioids like they’re in a 15th century Chinese Opium Den, we pivot towards psychedelics. I guess its progress in the right direction.
In step our good friends at Google, is there anything these guys cant do? Real drugs are getting to mainstreams so we’re just gonna create some virtual ones that take you on an imaginary journey to catch a dragon.
The crazy thing is that we all think this is a new play out of Googles playbook, they’ve been at this game for years. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t rely on google and their “special search drug algorithm” every single day of their lives. No one uses Yahoo or Bing (if that’s still around), its like when you find that unstoppable play in NFL Blitz, you know its coming ,they know its coming but it doesn’t matter because the results will be 8 points 9 out of 10 times (everyone goes for 2 in blitz).
Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are going to be the technology addictions of the future (especially with everybody kids )being addicted to the internet these days. The real questions is, when are we going to hit the point where people no longer need to interact with each other and can live in augmented reality(AR) by themselves? I think were getting pretty close and that’s a scary reality. Are we getting close to virtual bars/pubs? Not a bad idea…. Anyway, the evolution of technology is getting exponentially faster and the micro-organisms(that basically make us up) will struggle to keep pace. As we overcome one problem, others will arise. That’s just the way the world spins…
I’d like to be on record in saying the best drug is nature(if your wondering how i know this….Google), make of that what you will.
In 50 years, dogs might be the only reason for us to go outside. God bless them! The animal that keeps on giving.
P.S – Stay woke Google, looks like Microsoft’s doing this too: https://www.vrroom.buzz/vr-news/trends/microsoft-developing-virtual-reality-acid-trip
