Science Says to become Healthy – Get a Dog
LS– Good news for dog owners: Man’s best friend may help lower a person’s risk of heart disease, a new study from Sweden finds.
In the study, the researchers looked at the relationship between dog ownership and cardiovascular health. The results suggest that dog owners have a lower risk of heart disease because the four-legged friends provide social support and boost their owners’ physical activity. Owning a pet dog may be particularly beneficial for people who live alone, the study found.
No need to tell me twice, I guess my question is: Are there any successful people who don’t have a dog? Is it possible? These are they type of studies that get me going, validate the age old known fact that dogs make you happier, healthier, smarter, faster, better looking and more giving. Ok, I may of made up a couple of those claims that the study doesn’t actually conclude but I have valid arguments for all.
My dog is pumped every time I walk through the door, unconditionally overwhelming pure exuberance no matter what the circumstance. Your lying if you as a human don’t get a natural high from being the sole cause of another animal’s pure excitement. Your “Feel Good” hormones just start flowing, plain and simple. Let’s not forget that it’s the only animal that you can tell you deepest darkest secrets to and know it’ll be in their vault forever (can’t say the same for cats). Dog = You being happier
Their natural tendency’s to constantly be outside, no inside, wait I meant outside, I want to come back in now outside and digging, rolling in mud, catching critters (and presenting them as presents), eating poop and just getting dirty in general actually (according to science) increases the diversity of the human’s microbiome (gut bacteria) which is really (IMO) the deciding factor in all things health. Also, if you have a dog like mine, playing and walking/running is not a nice add-on to the day, it’s a necessity. She will follow you with a tennis ball until you are guilted into play time, and when 4-5pm rolls around (what my mom like to call the “Witching Hour”) a walk will be had whether we like it or not. Dog = 100% Healthier
See what I’m talking about:
As for the other claims in my opening paragraph here’s my view:
Smarter – You need to sharpen your skills to be able to get the best seat on the couch, or trick them into giving it up. Don’t forget trying to train them and the moment that you find out they know exactly what you’re saying but just choose not to listen.
Faster – At some point or another we end up chasing them, those times add up
Better looking – Science again, girls are statistically more attracted to guys with furry barking friends. For me, a girl who hates dogs isn’t even in contention (there may be some exceptions).
More Giving – Living quarters, Food, a Bed, exercise, stories – are all things you share with your dog.
As I write this from my NYC apartment I’m thinking of reason to go visit my do this weekend, so I advise you to consider a four-legged friend. Just make sure you have the time and energy for them, do your research on what your signing up for the next 15 years.
