The Intermittent Fasting / Oral Health Connection
When most people think of “brushing and flossing” they visualize a chore, something they have to do or their dentist will scold them and drill on that bi-yearly visit.
However, I can’t help but wonder, if the explanation for why oral hygiene is so important was explained in the broader sense of ones health, if that would increase compliance without this “chore” perception.
Let’s say your dentist – or crazy longevity dude on the internet – explained that your mouth was full of BOTH beneficial and nefarious microbes, and their interaction with the type of food you ate, set the stage for how much or how little plaque formed on your teeth along with how deteriorating that plaque was.
And overtime, if not properly tended too, this could infect and inflame your gums, driving the formation of tiny gaps, or secret “backdoors” into the hottest biological club in town “Club Circulation”. Allowing “non-self” bacteria, particles, compounds, etc…. to make their way in, un-checked, and cause some systemic chaos.
Systemic Chaos, which eventually leads to an increased risk in conditions such as Heart Disease, Hypertension and Auto-Immunity….. Now, would ya start bushing and flossing a little more diligently….?
I would! And I’d even look into OTHER habits I could deploy to make this oral hygiene mission even MORE successful. Which brings us to Strategic Meal Timing…..
