At 115, Boxin Huang is the oldest resident of China’s Bapan Village, also called Longevity Village. But he’s not extraordinary there, where many live long past 100 years.
Cardiologist John Day, MD, of Intermountain Healthcare in Murray, Utah, visited Bapan and the Chinese centenarians and learned fascinating lessons about healthy living and healthy hearts, ones he shares with his own patients.
“Most people think it’s their genes, but the data don’t support it,” Dr. Day says about the Bapan centenarians. Research on about 3,000 pairs of twins who had identical DNA — the same genes — but as adults had different home environments and life choices, showed that only 25 percent of their longevity was due to genes. The other 75 percent was affected by lifestyle. Things within your control can make all the difference in lifespan.

There are two key points in this study: 1) It show that everyone’s favorite excuse for why their overweight, not in shape, feeling tired and unhealthy in general – “Genes” do play a roll in your longevity. 2) However, Genes are a substantially lower factor in the overall picture when compared to the lifestyle and diet we choose. Look how these village people somewhere in bumble他妈的 China are living a very fluent and naturally active lifestyle. They’re eating primarily from the ground and are reliant on completing their daily agricultural jobs in order to survive (taking “No Days Off” to the next level). Your considered normal if you live past 100 here and this isn’t 100 year old’s who are bed ridden, the elders in this retirement getaway are working! These results definitely support the ones from the famous The China Study completed and published in 2005. Its not really new news, western society is eating themselves to death, the way to prevent dealing with disease in you 40’s, 50’s and 60’s is to take care of yourselves in your 20’s and 30’s.
