What would happen if Pharma Ad’s showed the Side Effects in their Commercials
Are you always tired? Struggling to keep your eyes open at work and not being able to doze off at night? Feel like your constantly carrying sandbags on your shoulders? Its just never your day?…….. And Scene! “Great work everyone! We’ll just throw in a couple of doctors pointing at some papers and CGI some hot tubs in the middle of the Forrest overlooking a prosperous valley (while the sun sets). These little blue wonder pills will be flying off the shelves in no time”.
That’s how pharmaceutical commercials are made right? Just before it airs the legal team cuts & pastes about 6000 words (in size .05 print) at the bottom of the screen while a speed reader secretly whisper warnings in between the upbeat music and old man celebrating a lottery victory.
Think about it, all you need to do is go to you doctor and get a magical pill that will solve one of your issues above, another problem ? BAMM, Another Pill! Before you know it your sitting at your kitchen table getting ready for a fully balanced meal:
That’s cool, and the route that most Americans will end up taking but I’d be lying to you if I said that was the only option you have. Actually the second ones not bad and its pretty simple:
- Get Up
- Eat Real Food – Primarily Plant based (focused on natural and organic)
- Be moderately active
- Naturally feel great/happy/energized/empowered
Decisions, Decisions Decisions
Here’s an idea, what if it was mandated that Pharma Commercials need to allocate 20% of their air time to visually showing the side effect of these medications. That’s right, bring back the nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhea dance but show the real side effects listed in the fine print, like: Weight Gain, Depression, Irritability, Hair loss, Fatigue, Constipation, Insomnia, No sex drive, Internal Bleeding, and Increased chance of Death. That may open up some eyes.
You get one shot at this life thing, don’t spend it setting alarms to remind you to take a pill every hour.
